Introducing Mt Eccles National Park
Mt Eccles erupted 19, 000 years ago, and the lava flow covered the countryside in all directions, with one massive tongue flowing 30km to the coast and another heading 19km out to sea. Its main features are the scenic lake, lava caves and huge koala population. There’s a ranger’s station (03-5576 1338) and camp sites with toilets and showers.
