Introducing Mornington to Blairgowrie

From Mornington, the Esplanade heads south for the gorgeous scenic drive towards Sorrento, skirting the rocky Port Phillip Bay foreshore. Inland, the Nepean Hwy (B110) takes a less-scenic route and again becomes the Mornington Peninsula Fwy.

From Dromana take the steep hairpin-bend Arthurs Seat Rd inland up to the lookout at Arthurs Seat (called Wonga by the Boonwurrung people), which, at 305m, is the highest point on the Port Phillip Bay coast, with fine views across the bay. The famous chairlift here was closed after a series of accidents but there are plans to revive it, if safety demands can be met. Back at Dromana there’s a relic of the 1960s, a time when there were more than 330 drive-in cinemas across Australia. The National Trust–listed Dromana Drive-In is one of just a handful that remain.
