The huge range of rooms in this former Terminus House (1884) range from basic motel rooms to lavish B&B affairs. Lighthouse views come at a premium. There’s a communal kitchen, a tennis court, a games room and barbecue facilities.

This large family home has spotless doubles and family rooms with bright, cheerful decor. They’ve added a purpose-built version next door, too. Some share a bathroom, most have balconies and they’re all excellent value.

There is a range of options at this windswept spot; you can book out the whole Head Lightkeeper’s House (sleeping 16), or the smaller Manager’s House (sleeping two).
Apollo Bay Holiday Park
This place looks prefab suburban, complete with speed humps, car parks and kit homes. It’s at the northern end of town.
Torquay Foreshore Caravan Park
Just behind the back beach, this is the largest camping ground on the Surf Coast. It has good facilities and new premium-priced cabins with sea views.
Marengo Holiday Park
In the ‘suburb’ of Marengo, 2km west of town, this meticulously run beachside park has spacious deluxe cabins (some with log fires and spa) and campers are well taken care of with good facilities.
Port Campbell Hostel
This brand new, purpose-built double-storey backpackers has rooms with western views, a huge shared kitchen and an even bigger lounge and bar area. It’s big on recycling and the toilets are ecofriendly, too...
This simple backpackers (just two dorm rooms and one double/triple) is clean, bright and welcoming, and in winter the fire glows warmly in the cosy living room.
Warrnambool Beach Backpackers
Close to the sea, this former museum has a huge living area with a bar, internet access, a kitchen and free pick-up service. Its rooms, however, could do with a freshen up. It’s a good place to seek casual employment.
Lorne Foreshore Caravan Park
Book here for Lorne's five caravan parks. Of these Erskine River Park is the prettiest; on the left-hand side as you enter Lorne, just before the bridge. Book well ahead for peak-season stays.
