Old Castlemaine Gaol
The last prisoners moved out of the imposing Old Castlemaine Gaol in 1990. Today you can take a guided tour of the old cells, gallows and watchtowers, and there’s a small cafe.

Castlemaine Rod Shop
If you're into hot rods and custom cars, take a trip out to the shop about 7km east of town in Chewton. The big green shed contains around 20 custom-built vehicles and drag racers. Call ahead to check it's open.
