Murray to Mountains Rail Trail
All content by World Expeditions
A classic cycling tour through the alpine valleys and wine districts of Victoria's picturesque north-east
The alpine valleys of north-east Victoria have earned a reputation as one of the most exciting regions in Australia for food and wine. It is also a place where mountain wilderness surrounds fertile valleys and local producers are guided by a rich heritage. A cycle trail winds its way through the district following the well graded railway easement built during the gold rush. Pedalling your way through vineyards, dairy farms and heritage towns in to the heart of the high country this active journey offers the perfect opportunity to experience the delights of the region. Following a sealed cycleway, you are free to enjoy the local scenery and hospitality without the worry about roads and traffic. When combined with experienced cycle guides and transfers that make the most of the cycling - whether flat or downhill - this cycling journey opens up a whole new way to appreciate the natural beauty of regional Australia. Self guided versions of this itinerary are also avaialable on request.
