Discovery Holiday Parks Cradle Mountain
This bushland complex is 2.5km from the national park. It has well-separated sites, a YHA-affiliated hostel, a camp kitchen and laundry and self-contained cabins.
Derwent Bridge Wilderness Hotel
This is a brilliant spot on a freezing day with roaring log fires, cold beers and man-sized pub meals. The accommodation needs an upgrade, but the bar has a soaring, timber-beamed ceiling, a pool table, jukebox and easy-going vibe.
