Customs House Hotel
Lonely Planet review
This deceptively spacious hotel is housed within a pretty sandstone building above a popular (and often boisterous) pub, just moments from Salamanca Place and Battery Point. The newly renovated accommodation is fuss-free and contemporary - perfect for those who've had their fill of heritage stays.
Expect clean straight lines, solid blocks of colour and the occasional exposed brick wall or fireplace. Those rooms with water views are lovely and also tend to be bigger than their poor relations at the back of the building (which boast less square footage and fewer urban vistas). What the rooms do have in common, however, are private modern bathroom suites (painted a calming sky blue) and very comfortable beds. If you do opt for a harbour view then it's worth remembering that even with double glazing the live music at weekends can get pretty noisy. A continental or hot breakfast (with options such as eggs benedict) is included and served in the sunny restaurant downstairs.
Our independent authors have visited Customs House Hotel and selected this as one of our recommended hotels in Battery Point.
