    Anzac Memorial

This dignified art-deco memorial (1934) commemorates the soldiers of the Australia and New Zealand Army Corps (Anzacs) who served in WWI. The interior dome is studded with 120,000 stars – one for each New South Welsh man or woman who served. Pines at the southwest entry grew from seeds gathered at Gallipoli in Turkey. There’s a sobering museum, and the Pool of Remembrance and Rayner Hoff’s sculpture Sacrifice are particularly poignant.
