Green Gourmet is a self-serve, pay-per-kilo, kind-to-animals eatery, plating up Chinese-Malaysian vegetarian food at affordable prices. On weekends, grab a few morsels of cruelty-free yum cha and wash it all down with one of the excellent teas on offer. Alcohol-free, too.

    This is a great place to impress your newly-arrived-from-overseas-german-vegan girlfriend. Looks like meat, smells like meat, almost, but not quite, tastes like meat. All the joy of asian food without the moo, cluck or bow-wow. OK, the weight thing is a little gimmicky - a flat plate rate would probably be more transparent. But best of all for Newtown - it's not Thai!
