Lonely Planet review for Mother Chu’s Vegetarian Kitchen
Shimmering in plastique splendour beneath the monorail, Mother Chu’s blends vegetarian Taiwanese, Japanese and Chinese influences to ensure the perfect tofu or claypot hit. There’s not much going on in terms of ambience, but the veg lovers don’t seem to mind.

Not the best, but a nice find
remelila recommends this,
It's true that this restaurant is a bit lacking in atmosphere, and I can't say the food is the best I've ever had, but it was tasty and satisfying overall. If you're looking for an all-vegetarian place in downtown Sydney, this will definitely do the trick.

Mother Chu's good food for meateaters and oh and vegos too
aussiestevo recommends this,
Tucked behind the cinema district of George St and adjacent to world square this run down restaurant is a Asian food lovers wet dream. Well if this Asian food lover is happens to be a vegan or a meat eater who is looking for a place to take there non carnivore friends. The menu here is diverse with authentic Asian favorites like peking duck, hot pots, assorted stir frys and salt and pepper varieties cooked with meat substitutes. For a meat eater the alternatives are quite authentic, if you didn’t know any better you would think the gluton was made out of an ex living creature. Proving with a bit of innovation not all vegan food needs to be tofu based. For the Vegetarians this place is a Mecca, with a long list of food varieties which are usually not vegan friendly. Complement your meal with ginger tea or tofu ice cream for the total Asian experience.
