Lonely Planet review for Casa Asturiana
Tapas is flavour of the decade in Sydney, but this atmospheric eatery under the monorail in Sydney’s chico Spanish Quarter predates the current trend. Order up plates of delicious seafood, meat and vegetarian titbits, washed down with a rough rioja, sangria or Asturian cider. If you’re in the mood for a cazuela (baked fish fillet), paella or even some weekend flamenco, you’re in luck.

A chopped potato with garlic mayonnaise does not $11 make
jenaand recommends this,
We used to do a regular Friday night tapas trawl, starting off with the 8pm show at the Spanish club, then hitting the pub across the road, Casa Asturiana, Miro's, Captain Torres and Don Quixote.
I've been scoffing down the tapas on and off at Casa Asturiana for 10 years. It's always been my favourite place down Liverpool Street - and the food is still tasty, but overpriced now.As always, the grilled prawns (gambas a la plancha), chorizo, spanish omlette and meatballs (albondigas) were great - but $10 for vegetarian and $15 for each tiny-plated meat/seafood tapas - it's just too pricey for scoffing. And $11.40 for a cold potato drizzled with garlic mayonnaise is simply 'escandaloso'.
The Spanish beers are reasonably priced and tasty, but the Sangria and Asturian cider are also out of my price range these days.
Good if you're not too hungry and not too broke.
