Lonely Planet review for A Fish Called Coogee

This upmarket fish and chipper offers much more than your standard deep-fried cod. There’s everything from barbecued shrimp and peppered marlin to swordfish and garlic prawns. Eat in or grab a bag and find a patch of sand.

Bad service, would not recommend at all

    bettyboos does not recommend this,

Couldn't agree more with bk79. Totally deceptive pricing due to the cooking charge and certainly not in most travellers budgets!!! I also agree that the staff were miserable and food wasn't great, I had bones in my salmon.
I too question how can it be in the top things to do in Syders? I hope this is reviewed again by you guys again soon.
I would say head to Chish and Fips on the seafront instead for friendly service, reasonable pricing and great fish and chips.

Terrible and rude service and deceptive pricing!

    bk79 does not recommend this,

Beware that they charge a dollar cooking charge for every 100gr and they didn't pull the fish bones out when they portioned the fish.
The staff is very rude and not customer friendly. No smile or apology after forgetting some of the food.
Not recommended at all! How could this place be in the top 11 things to do in Sydney??? There's at least 11 places in the vicinity which I would recommend to go before this place.

    Good for: Rude customer service

Not good for: service, Ambience, value

    lightspeed388 recommends this,

A real little gem, not only does it have a great name but the fresh seafood that comes out of this little gem is just great!!! I really recommend that you visit and eat on the beach with your family and a picnic rug.

The Best Fish and Chips in Sydney

    kb2009 recommends this,

You'll pay more here for fish and chips than most other places in Sydney but it is worth it! The fish is always fresh and cooked perfectly. You can choose from a range of fish types all flavoured differently (I recommend the Coconut and Lime Salmon). The chips are hand-cut and if you feel the need for some greens the bok choy or salad are great. The fish burger is also fabulous made with a real fish fillet. BYO- so take a bottle of your favorite vino and enjoy!
