Lonely Planet review

This luxurious five-star hotel is the only accommodation in Adelaide that has views straight out over the soporific Torrens River and the green tinge of parkland that surrounds it. Needless to say, a river-view room here is an absolute must.

The Hyatt's lobby is full of reflective surfaces that make it seem much bigger than it really is, from the bottom-level water features to the copper-toned roof and the pair of enormous metal-sheathed support pillars. The sense of space extends to the rooms, which have king-size beds, and to recreation areas such as the Atrium lounge. For extra leisure options, pay an extra fee (per double) on top of the room rate to get access to the private Regency Club, where breakfast and convivial boozing are provided. The hotel is adjacent to Adelaide's convention centre and its casino, but avoiding dejected gamblers and throngs of delegates is as easy as shutting the door to your plush room.
