Historic House sights in Australia

  1. Byramine Homestead

When Elizabeth Hume’s husband was killed by bushrangers, she moved here and built Byramine Homestead in 1842 – a safe haven which saw her become the first permanent European settler in the area. The homestead is shaped like a fortress and is set in magnificent grounds, just 14km west of town. Enjoy a ploughman’s lunch or Devonshire tea under a very grand old tree.
