We will be travelling from Kings Canyon to Alice Springs via the Mereenie Loop and the West McDonnell Ranges in June. We have a 4wd and off road caravan. I've found lots of information on the West McDonnells and have worked out what we will do there but one of hubbie's friends told him the East McDonnells are good too. I can't find as much info on them so wondered if anyone here can give me some advice.
After we get to Alice, would it be worth either:
1) doing a day trip out to the region?

Hi, I landed in sydney on the 24th of February.
Not got much of a set plan yet. I'm moving up to Brisbane within the next week or so, planning on finding fruit picking work around there. I think I'm getting a hop on hop off bus so I can stop at Byron bay, see the sights. Wondering if there's anyone else in the same situation, would love to meet and talk at least. :)
We are leaving for Australia somewhere at the end of april en have a flight back home 7 July 2015. We want to drive with a campervan all the way from Sydney to Cairns. Do you have any suggestions to drive back to Sydney along another worthy route? We would lik to pick up and drop off our campervan in Sydney so we enter and leave Australia from Sydney.
As a couple, how easy is it to either find jobs in the same town/city or get jobs together say as fruit pickers farm work etc. We want to do the three months farm work first to secure the second year visa but is it easy to work on the same farm?
Does any one have experience with renting a 4WD with the company 'australian 4WD hire'? We have just booked and paid deposit, pick up at Broome.
A friend today advised to only book with well known companies, as he did the Kimberley 2 years ago and got a really old car. They needed to change all 4 tires during their trip! So I would like to hear from anyone who had experience with this company, ...
I am a 24-year-old female from Nashville, TN, and I'm planning to relocate to Sydney in late April-early May (or early June at the very latest, if everything goes south and I can't come up with the money in time.) The goal is to get a working holiday visa and spend 6 months to a year traveling around Oz, NZ, and Southeast Asia, so I'd love to hear from you if you're planning to do the same!
I am traveling from Darwin to Alice Springs in early May planning to do the trip in 10 to 12 days, we are two adult males traveling and are wanting a vehicle we can sleep in. I am wondering if anyone has any advice on the pros and cons of doing the trip in a 4WD as a posed to a camper. My first thoughts where a 4WD but with the cost being almost double I am wondering if it is in fact needed.
Many thanks in advance.
