Restaurants in Cooktown

  1. A

    Bowls Club

Sign yourself in at the door, and join the club for the night. Apart from the enormous surf’n’turf tucker, you’re able to visit the salad bar as often as you like and natter with the Cooktown regulars. Outdoor diners get a spectacular view of bowling in action.

Fish and chips the way it should be – fresh and right on the waterside wharf.

  3. C

    Cooktown Hotel

The double-storey timber 'Top Pub' is a local landmark at the top (southern) end of Charlotte St. Plenty of character, plenty of locals and a side beer garden to sit with a beer, kangaroo pie or Sunday roast.

  4. D

    Restaurant 1770

Opening onto a romantic waterside deck right next to the wharf, fresh fish – such as beer- battered barra and Spanish mackerel – takes top billing, but save space for mouth-watering desserts.

  5. E

    Italian Restaurant

For satisfying pizzas and pastas, head to this new kid on the block. Does fairly fast takeaway, too.

This is the place to go for a big fried brekky, and the coffee’s decent.

  11. Balcony Restaurant

Upstairs, the Sovereign Resort's formal Balcony Restaurant serves French-inspired Mod Oz cuisine like confit of duck with sweet potato puree or pistachio-crusted rack of lamb (along with seafood, of course). The Cafe-Bar has reasonably priced seafood, pizzas and BLTs, as well as pool tables and free internet.
