Hi all,

We are planning to visit Australia at the end of May for approximately 15 days (from Jakarta). We would like to rent a car for a relaxing roadtrip. This will be our first visit to Australia and we would like to see some typical Australia landscapes, but defenitely do not want to rush! We are thinking of 2 options:
- perth-broome (possibly adding a little of the Kimberly region if time allows).
- darwin-Alice springs, making side trips to kakadu and uluru.
We are mostly interested in nature…

I was stupid enough to buy a Melbourne to Hobart return ticket when I meant to buy a Hobart to Melbourne return. I only discovered it this morning when I went to do the check-in.

It costs more to change the dates/flights than to buy a new ticket and as it is a cheapie there is no refund. So I have ended up buying a new ticket later in the month.

So I have a ticket I cant use. Departure Melbourne Monday 2 May morning, return from Hobart Wed 4 May afternoon.

If anyone wants to have a go at…

Basically, I got declined a working holiday visa because I forgot to send a copy of my passport (stupid, I know!). I was wondering if anyone knew whether I would definitely have to pay the fee for the visa again or whether there was any way to get the money back. The phone lines are closed for the weekend and I want to apply ASAP hence asking on here!

Hi. We are planning a trip to Great Barrier Reef in July. We have previously stayed at Green Island, and Lady Elliot Island. We enjoyed Green Island, and absolutely loved Lady Elliot Island. We have maximum of 10 days although don't need to spend that long. We will be starting/finishing from Gold Coast and/or Noosa. Don't mind flying but don't want particularly long car trips (3 hours max). We have a car if needed. Have 2 children aged 9 & 12. Kids love snorkeling and nature. My husband is not…

Hi everybody,

I was wondering if someone knows if it is legal to carry a (concealed) pocket knife in Australia. I would like to take it with me during my trip to Australia for camping purposes and safety.

Thanks in advance! :)

Being member of HI (national association Danhostel, Denmark), do I need to become member of YHA as well to enjoy discounts in Australian hostels? And are there YHA hostels in Australia not associated with HI?

Thank you

I'm British and basically I'm an idiot and never sent a copy of my passport that the Australian border agency requested. I thought my application had been accepted and flew to Australia (got in on an existing tourist Visa without realising). I have now been here 2 weeks and just received an email saying my application has been declined. I was wondering if there was any way I wouldn't have to return back to England in order to apply for another holiday visa. PLEASE PLEASE ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED!

Hi there

We are planning a ten day road trip (probably hire a camper) from Brisbane in December. I have read here that it will be humid and wet and not the ideal time to travel. I'd like to do some diving so initial plan was to work our way up to Cairns and then back down again, don't mind the long distances.

Any advice on places to stay along the way? Would it be a better idea to only go as far up the coast at Airlie Beach? we had thought of stopping at 1770 and Noosa on the way.

Thanks for…
