The Pier’s fires burn brightly on the wooden deck that surrounds this waterfront bar-restaurant. The ice machine mesmerises as it moves ice along a perspex pipe above the bar, but if you can focus your eyes on the menu you’ll find a smattering of snacks, finger foods, pizza and fish. There’s a band every Sunday night from 8pm.

    Cairns is perfect for just doing nothing, but when you feel like doing something, why not enjoy a drink and snack at one of the coolest places in town - the Pier Bar. Situated just off the popular Lagoon, across from the Esplanade, there's no better time of day to enjoy this spot than mid afternoon. As the sun slowly sets, this location by the water is serene and relaxing. You'll meet an interesting array of locals and tourists out on the deck, and really feel 'at home', no matter where in the world you're from. Make new friends - Americans, Japanese, Aussies, Canadians, Brits - over a beer and some gourmet pizza. A band or DJ hits the right note coming into dark, when you can choose to have a bite to eat and head home, or kick on for some more drinks and a dance. It's contemporary, chic and very Cairns. This is the place to hang out to enjoy it all, highly recommended.
