Restaurants in Katherine

  1. A

    Katherine Country Club

Overlooking Katherine's nine-hole golf course, this boozy bistro is a real locals' haunt. You don't have to be a club member (or even know how to swing a club) − just turn up and enjoy big steaks, burgers and schnitzels and Aerosmith on the jukebox. 'The burgers are better at the Golfy!'

  2. B

    Katie's Bistro

This intimate little bistro at Knott's Crossing Resort is a real local fave (it's hard to tell the townies from the tourists). Wagyu beef, lobster and prawn pasta, crocodile spring rolls and grilled outback camel grace the eclectic menu, and you can eat inside or alfresco by the pool. A name change is rumoured − 'Savannah Restaurant'?

  3. C

    Katherine Club

Close to the town centre, the Club ain't fancy, but you can rely on satisfying bistro meals (steak, schnitzel and barra), and the kids are welcome. Wednesday is steak night; Thursday it's schnitzels. Sign in as a visitor at the fortresslike front desk, or find a member to tag along with.

  4. Kumbidgee Lodge Tea Rooms

On the road to Nitmiluk, 10km from Katherine, Kumbidgee is a tranquil spot with a big deck overlooking a small pond and a few pet goats to keep the kids happy. It’s a great spot to indulge in a hearty ‘bush breakfast’ ($13) or a Devonshire tea while catching up with the rest of the world in the newspapers. The Sunday buffet breakfast ($12) is a popular local outing.

    Starvin

The local pizza-and-pasta joint might not warrant a dress-up, but it'll fill a hole. This licensed place does universally recognised varieties of pasta, salad and gourmet pizza.
