Cairns

I'm planning a trip with my daughter to Cairns at the end of September and would like budget hotels/hostels ideas that are interesting. I'm older w/ a 26 year old daughter so not interested in"party hostels"....we plan on dive boat for 2 out of our 10 nights. Looking for "wildlife, nature" experiences. good inexpensive restaurants....any recommendations?

Hi,
I'm currently planning my working holiday in australia but I'm quite unsure where I should start my journey.
My arguments for the respective side(west/east) are:

West:
+ less popular
+ still a big city -> should satisfy all needs
+ higher chance for mining jobs
- everything else > 1000km (or is the road trip worth it?)
East:
+ more tightly packed
+ more same minded people
+ warmer(Jul-Aug)
- more dangerous jellyfish

But these arguments are more or less unfounded and because this my first journey of…

Hi all,

I've found a car to hire on rental cars.com but they are charging £80 or $132 as a young driver fee as I'm 22 years old. And then on top of that a further £180 or $300 as a one way fee.

Does anyone know of any companies that don't add on these fees please? I've planned my whole GOR trip around hiring this car but I don't want to pay that money. The car only cost £140 for a weeks hire.

I will be driving from Melbourne to Adelaide on the great ocean road on august 7.
I have rented a car and will be making many stops and spending the night at different locations. It would be great to find people to share the cost of the trip with.

Here is a rough itinerary:

Day 1 Melbourne to Appolo Bay around 200km about 2hrs 40min driving time.

Day 2 Appolo bay to Portland 260km 3hrs 30 min drive time.

Day 3 Portland to Adeaaide 540 km 6hrs 30 min drive time

Let me know if interested…

Hi,

I'm going to attend the Penguin Parade over at Phillip island in the middle of August and wondered whether to do general viewing or penguin plus? Have any of you been and could advise what your view was like and which would be best to buy? Also should I pre book tickets?

Thanks !

We're traveling to Darwin for the first, and, I suppose likely, last time in our lives, at the end of August. We plan to spend a couple of days in Darwin itself and in between visit Kakadu. We are traveling with kids (young teens), and want to self tour in a rental car. Thinking we will stick to the 2WD roads, take some hikes short hikes (1-2 hours max), perhaps the Yellow Water tour, cultural center, visitor center, border store... Anything not to be missed? I've heard about a Stone Country…

Hello everyone,

In december 2016 and january 2017 I will be visiting family in Fremantle, WA. I plan on hiring/buying a 4WD, and travel across the Great Central Road in january. I know I'll have to prepare for a lot of stuff (fuel, water, maybe a satellite phone?, permits,...) I have some experience with off road driving, and corrugated roads, as I did a six month trip in Australia about 6 years ago. BUT, I want to ask if driving the Great Central Road in the month of january is managable…
