  2. Exploring metros

Blog: Snaps and Flip Flops - 18 November 2011

I think one way of getting a know a city is by taking the public transport. It kinda lets you sneak a peek at how locals go about their daily lives. While I personally love walking to get to places when i'm in a foreign city, I must say I'm also fascinated by the train stations and the people in it.

  3. Where Have All the Hippies Gone

    Blog: Twenty-Something Travel - 12 December 2010

So after I left Brisbane the rain reverted back to it’s constant, depressing onslaught as were rushed our way down the Gold Coast towards Byron Bay*. But we’ll forget the rain for the moment because I was looking for something else down the coast: culture. More specificially Hippie Culture. Byron Bay started as a surfer’s [...]

  4. Glamping – Luxury Camping Holidays. A Five Star Room in a Tent!

Blog: The Travel Tart - Offbeat Tales From A Travel Addict - 12 October 2010

Glamping – Camping but not roughing it! Glamping is a new word – basically an amalgamation of the words ‘Glamour’ and ‘Camping’. It’s a growing trend with travel accommodation – and a departure from the Tight Arse version of travelling I usually subject myself to.

Blog: Around The World On The Toilet - 18 August 2010

Since being back home and settling into somewhat of a normal existence we have been busy planning our next long haul. When we speak of our plans to travel from Eastern Europe and into the Middle East the majority roll their eyes and with a puzzled expression say ” That sounds great, but I have [...]

  6. Sand, Sea and Spliffs. Byron Bay, Australia

    Blog: Chronicles of a year-long break-up - 18 May 2010

For such a small town Byron Bay has a lot of character. With lovely clean beaches, fantastic surf and more hostels and guesthouses than seems feasible (so how are they always full?), it should have already become another Cairns or Airlie Beach. It should be packed to the rafters with the Oz Experience bunch, fresh [...]

  8. Byron Bay: Wake up and see the sunrise!

Blog: Snaps and Flip Flops - 12 March 2010

I rarely wake up early enough to see the sunrise. I know I am probably missing out on one of the most amazing natural wonders of the world. But one time at Byron Bay, I decided to do give up my precious zzz's to see the sun rise over the most easterly point of Australia. It was quite a show. Though it looked like it was going to pour any minute, I'm glad the rain decided to hold out until the spectacular display was over. The heavy clouds looming over the horizon added a bit of drama. If you happen to be in Byron Bay, it's a must-see.

  9. Bangalow in Brief

    Blog: Aerohaveno: A Travel Blog - 11 March 2010

A couple of weeks ago I went on a media trip to the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales. These trips, in which a bunch of journalists are driven around in a minibus or the like, are typically fast and furious, covering a lot of ground. This trip was no exception - we touched down at Ballina airport, then over three days were driven to Grafton and Nymboida, then back via Ballina to Byron Bay and onto Kingscliff, near the Queensland border.

  10. Kicking back in Byron

Blog: Some Travel Required - 10 March 2010

For our last week in Australia we decided it would be nice to stay put relax somewhere rather than moving from place to place as we've been doing pretty much the whole trip so far.  We loved Byron Bay so we decided to go back and spend the week on the beach.  We stayed at a great place called Belongil Beachhouse (http://www.belongilbeachouse.com/).  Belongil is located right on the beach slightly out of the main town - a perfect spot to kick back for a week.

  11. Byron Bay

Blog: Some Travel Required - 25 February 2010

So it's only right we begin with a brief apology to our followers (we're up to 36 official fans!) for the distinct lack of updates over the last couple of weeks.  We have been experiencing a bit of blog updating fatigue.  It's very taxing trying to maintain a blog as funny and informative as this and furthermore, it's also quite expensive ($5 an hour just to get online.  It's outrageous!)  Anyway, these are all just lame excuses, we need to do better and, from this point on, we promise to try our hardest.  Now that's out of the way, lets talk about what

Blog: Snaps and Flip Flops - 23 February 2010

Mar 28, 2009 - Woke up early to witness the infamous Byron Bay sunrise. Despite the dark clouds looming over the horizon, it was still breathtaking. Thankfully, we get to see it before it started pouring.

Blog: Snaps and Flip Flops - 23 February 2010

Mar 27, 2009 - I promised Marky a relaxing weekend so we deliberately didn't book any activities for this trip. I was fine with that as i've been wanting some time to unwind and laze around.

  17. Byron Bay: Wish I could live here

Blog: A Travel Around the World - 28 October 2009

Its fame hit us well before we enter in Australia and not for anything, only now we could understand the reasons behind it. Byron is only a small town on the easterly point of Australia mainland. When you drive through it at first, yes, it seems very pretty but nothing new to many other nice seaside villages you might have come across along the East Coast, WRONG! Hang around for a bit longer and you will see what Byron is all about.

  18. NSW North Coast Roadtrip, through our trip top-to-bottom of Australia East Coast

Blog: A Travel Around the World - 9 October 2009

Having ignored the bit between Sydney and Byron Bay? That's exactly what we were going to do like many other backpackers, mistakenly bypassing this part of the Central Coast of NSW and head straight to Byron, but thanks to some locals who tipped us off about some coastal hideaways we didn't miss out some magnificent drives.

  19. Tucked in a Wave in Byron Bay, Australia

Blog: Brilliant Tips Travel Blog - 18 August 2009

I've been told that "You don't just arrive in Byron Bay. Byron Bay 'happens' to you." For some, there is no place like it on earth and for others it's an over-priced coastal town where it can take hours to find a parking spot. Regardless of popular opinion, it's a spot where there are good times to be had.
