Lonely Planet review for Bay Leaf Café
This tiny wedge-shaped bohemian cafe has a small but excellent menu prepared in a busy open kitchen. Best meal of the day is breakfast. That is, unless fresh homemade pasta takes your fancy.

...where you find the locals
tracymoreton recommends this,
Bay Leaf Cafe is where you'll find all the Byron locals enjoying all-day coffees. This is a cafe where you can enjoy either an on-the-run takeaway or relax for a long session of newspaper reading and watching local identities talk about that day's surf conditions. Run by Ben who is of Italian descent, you can also be sure that the coffee is always excellent. The staff at Bay genuinely love coming to work to catch up with their customers on what's happening around town. Its a place where they remember your name if you've been there more than once and it becomes a ritual way to start each day. With a long communal table and outdoor footpath seating, its a great spot to watch the world go by and get a true feel for what makes the people tick who live in Byron all year round.
