  1. All Wrapped up in Blue

    Blog: Twenty-Something Travel - 19 December 2010

The Blue Mountains, just and hour or two outside of Sydney, are on everyones must-do in Australia list. For some reason, maybe because I’m too cynical, I assumed I would find them underwhelming- that they benefited mostly from their proximity to Sydney. Boy was I wrong: The Blue Moutains were stunning.  They are one of [...]

  2. A Little Travel Memory….Blue Haze Over the Three Sisters

    Blog: A Little Adrift - A RTW Travelogue - 10 August 2010

Travel Memories: The Three Sisters in Australia’s Blue Mountains You can’t actually smell the sweetly mentholated scent eucalyptus when you’re already up in the mountains but the blue haze for as far as you can see is your first indication that the forests in the Blue Mountains north of Sydney contain such a high density of  eucalyptus trees that they the air is blue with tiny droplets of eucalyptus oil. To this day – and even though I have been hiking in the Himalayas of Nepal, volcanoes in Guatemala and countless ...

  3. Roadtrip: Wentworth Falls

Blog: Snaps and Flip Flops - 3 April 2010

Wentworth Falls in Blue Mountains is just a short 1.5 hour drive from Sydney (sans traffic). It probably has one of the more scenic walks i've ever been to around Sydney, and in my opinion better than the more popular walks in Katoomba. We were only planning on going to the Wentworth Falls lookout last Friday, but the Valley of the Waters trail beckons. Apparently, Wentworth Falls is not the only falls in Wentworth Falls.

  4. Camping at Lake Lyell

Blog: Snaps and Flip Flops - 25 March 2010

March 20-21, 2010 - Went on a camping/fishing trip at Lake Lyell in Lithgow last weekend. Its an easy drive from Sydney, about 2 hours away. This time, it went without incident. Perfect weather, no rude campers, and unfortunately, no fish either. Not even a single bite. The boys were a bit disappointed, to say the least (i think the exact word they used was "cheated"), hence they wallowed in their misery with beer and bacardi.

  5. Blue Mountains

Blog: Snaps and Flip Flops - 4 March 2010

Blue Mountains is one of those places that's often advertised as one of the top day trip destinations from Sydney. I wouldn't exactly say its the top, nor really is it a must see, but being merely 1.5 hours away from Sydney, and easily accessible by public transport, why not? If you're into nature or bushwalking, or you must simply get away from the city, then it may be just right for you.

  8. Coober Pedy, Sydney, The Blue Mountains and Nimbin

    Blog: Kieron Clark - 12 May 2009

“I’ve been everywhere, man / I’ve been everywhere.” So sings Johnny Cash in his 1960s hit single I’ve Been Everywhere, before going on to give a list of place names that have, erm, nothing to do with the theme of this article. But you get the general idea: since my last post, I’ve been all [...]
