Lonely Planet review for Immigration Museum

The inspiring Immigration Museum, in the Old Customs House (1858–70), provides a heart-rending account of Victoria’s immigration history. The tears, joy, separations, reunions and difficult journeys that typify human movement are powerfully represented, and the clever multimedia displays provide insight into Melbourne’s continuing multicultural mix. Contents aside, the building’s Renaissance revival architecture is reason enough for a visit.
