Lonely Planet review for Baker D Chirico
The Baker’s sourdough is some of the city’s finest. Stock up on house-baked granola, or stop for a coffee, rhubarb danish or a calzone. Beautifully designed packaging (look for the boxed nougat) spreads the good taste around, and their footpath seating is some of the neighbourhood’s most popular.

Baker D. Chirico
amydance recommends this,
Baker D. Chirico is certainly a taste bud pleaser. From their famous lunch Panini’s (which sell out in minutes) to their perfect petite strawberry tarts and extraordinary coffee they are on a winner every time.
Baker D Chirico uses organic products and you can certainly taste the difference! The bakery is a little more pricy than your usual baker but you won’t be disappointed.
The bakery staff are friendly and look chic in their French style aprons
The shop features a couple of tables and chairs out front but don’t plan on getting a table on a Sunday morning - this place fills quickly by the leisurely locals. Alternatively enjoy your baked delights across the road at Albert Park where the locals play cricket or football most weekends.

A Taste Sensation
milliestar recommends this,
Oh my goodness - this place is a little gem!! I stumbled across it one day on my very first trip to Melbourne in 2007, and I was so incredibly glad that I did. It is hard to put into words just how extraordinarily good all of the food and beverages, this humming little spot has to offer actually are. Biting into their sugar doughnuts makes you literally feel like you have died and gone to heaven......you may think I am exagerrating, but once you try them for yourself you will see that I am most definitely not!
Personally I was so besotted with all the sweet fare on my last visit to Melbourne, that I am yet to try their more savoury offerings. However they look equally as delicious and are top of my 'to do' list on my next visit in March.
The service here is excellent, the space and atmosphere chic and humming, and the food and coffee.....well it sits among some of the best I have had anywhere in the world. Any traveller to Melbourne would be mad not to drop in, even if only for a coffee and a pastry.....I promise you your tastebuds will thank you for it!!
