As an Italian friend of mine once said, "If you're going to have the word 'espresso' in your name, you'd better make frickin' good espresso.'

I must've had hundreds of glasses of coffee here in various forms, and only once scored a bad one. It was on the table for maybe two seconds before another staff member plucked it up with a quick apology and promised to be right back with a replacement.

Everyone here knows their coffee and the place is a local institution in a laneway that's seen its fair share of cafes come and go. The food is ok for what it is - mostly panini, and the breakfast usuals, but it's not the place to go if you're hungry for a feed.

It's a great to place sit and people watch as the business day closes and people spill out of the city and rush for their evening trains.
