Lonely Planet review for Santa Lucia
Canberra's first Italian restaurant is three decades old and still going strong. Generous pasta dishes with rich sauces are delivered to the patent red-and-white-checked tablecloths, and there are kid's meals for $10 to $12.

And the Romans conquer Canberra
noverall recommends this,
It's simple, authentic and good value - and the kids love it as much as their parents. Eating at Santa Lucia is like sitting down to dinner with friends in downtown Roma. The decor has possibly not changed much over its long history, from the black-and-white photographs adorning the stucco walls proudly displaying the early days of business, to the traditional red-and-white checked tablecloths and empty bottles of Chianti holding melted candles. Equally, the meals themselves are comforting in their familiarity - choose from generous portions of home-made spaghetti, sizziling gamberi (prawns) in olive oil, garlic and chilli, or classic veal and chicken dishes. The wine list too offers suitable accompaniments at reasonable prices. All in all, a nice and easy place for a pleasant night out with friends and family.
