    James Craig

    The James Craig is a hulking three-masted iron barque built in England in 1874. Abandoned in Tasmania in the 1930s, she was floated to Sydney and restored in the ’70s. Tall-ship tours beyond the Heads on the open-ocean swell take place fortnightly (bookings essential) and include lunch, morning and afternoon tea and a sea shanty or three.

    A good place to meet local yachties, as well as an excellent place to watch the sunset over a beer. Although you can't charter boats here, there is a noticeboard advertising crewing needs and detailing the seasonal race program.

    Sails the harbour in Zanzibar, an 11.6m sloop berthed at Cullen Bay Marina. Regular crewing sessions are held on Wednesday afternoon. Check the website for a timetable of training courses.
