Backroads to Angkor

Cycle the slow roads from Bangkok to Angkor Wat
With time on your side, there is no better way to get from Bangkok to Siem Reap (or in reverse). From the crystal clear waters and beaches of the Gulf of Thailand, we cycle along country roads and through sleepy villages where a warm welcome is common. We cross the border into Cambodia, cycle in an area know as the "Cambodian Rice Bowl" and continue via Battambang to Siem Reap.
Highlights
- Travel to Siem Reap cycling through a little used border crossing and taking your time to enjoy the journey
- Cycling beautiful village backroads
- Take in the sights of the area know as the "Cambodian Rice Bowl"
Itinerary
Day 1 transfer from Bangkok to coast, commence cycling
After being picked up from your hotel in Bangkok we first transfer to the coast. There is time for a quick swim while we set up the bikes. Today's ride is 51km firstly along the coast and then turning inland past shrimp and fruit farms to the provincial town of Chantaburi.
Day 2 Village backroad cycling, cross border
From Chantaburi beautiful village back roads take you up into the hills and over the border to Cambodia. This area is famed for its gem mining and was long the hide out of the Khmer Rouge long after they were thrown from power.
Day 3 Cycle to Battambang
We cycle the main Pailin-Battambang road today as we drop down out of low hills and down onto the flat plain that surrounds Battambang and provides rice growing land for an area known as the Cambodian Rice Bowl.
Day 4 Cycle and drive to Siem Reap, trip concludes
Cycling along the Battambang River we stop off at a local winery and a fruit bat settelement and then take a ride on small dirt tracks and trails. A ride on the famous Bamboo Train is a fun experience. We will then take a drive to reach Siem Reap where our tour ends.
