Hi!

My boyfriend and I will be traveling around Jamaica soon for about 7-10 days. Although some beach time is inevitable, we would like some suggestions for places/ways to experience the cultural or "real" Jamaica.

Also, what are some good, safe places to listen to music?

Are there any special events happening next week?

Are there any areas/towns with local community/charm?

Do you have any suggestions for nice, special, relatively inexpensive places to stay around the island that are a bit…

Any thoughts on visiting in early-mid November: Port au Prince, Jacmel, Cap-Haitian and then on to Dominican Republic. Not interested in the beaches obviously but would rather not get bogged down on roads, drenched continually if at all possible. Trip starts in Cuba so the proximity of Haiti is appealing despite it being the tail end of hurricane season. Any thoughts appreciated.

My friends and I are traveling to the Caribbean this summer for a month (Dominican Republic, Jamaica and Puerto Rico). We are ladies in our mid 30s and are curious if any other women have recently visited there and would offer any information about your experiences there in regards to Zika virus. Is the threat as serious as the media is making it out to be? Will we be ok if we take simple precautions like mosquito repellent (deet) and protective clothing? Any information you could share would be…

Learn to sail in September?

My husband and I are looking to take a vacation around the 1st and 2nd week in September (dates aren't really negotiable). We would really like to do a live aboard learn to sail in the Grenadines, but I am worried about the weather since it will be hurricane season for most of the Caribbean. Can anyone give me some insight into the weather conditions for sailing in September? And the reliability of flights from the US at that time? We plan to fly through Puerto Rico probably using Liat.

Hi
I'd love to swim with the rays at Stingray city but I hate the idea of boat captains grabbing rays, tacky photos kissing rays or with rays on your back and then being hassled to buy said tacky photos along with 5000 other cruise ship passengers. I just want a respectful encounter, are there any companies that offer this that people can recommend? We are staying 5 days so can go early/late, thanks.

I only plan on being in POS for maybe 2-3 nights, the rest on Tobago.
Is there a good hotel that is in a nice area? I always like to get out and walk when I'm in a new city.
I really don't want the big American chain hotels...maybe something like the Kapok Hotel.
Is the Queen's Park walkable without any security issues?

Thanks

Hey there,

as a german we usually allowed to stay in Jamaica for 90 days without a visa.
Does anybody know what happened if I stay more than the 90 days, maybe 100 or even more?
Do I have to pay a fee or what happens?

Thanks, cheers Angi

Hello, I need your advise please: I'm going to Jamaica next August with my family, and I'm now looking at the hotels. I see there are rooms with fan and rooms with air con, and I'd like to know if, in August, air con is strongly suggested or may be an optional. Are there many mosquitoes? Thanks!!
