I'll go to Armenia from 20/10 to 3/11. I'll stay 4 days in Yerevan, where I don't need a car, but then I'd like to travel around the country. Question: is it safe to rent a car in Armenia? In case it's not (do people drive crazily?), what's the easiest way to go around? Is it easy to find a driver to drop you somewhere in another city or area, and is it expensive?
I'm not into organised tours and prefer to travel independently.
Hi all. I am in Georgia at present, on a two week holiday, and I am thinking about going to Armenia for a very short side trip. One option is a day trip to the churches in the Debed Canyon, offered by a hostel in Tbilisi. With my short time frame (1-2 days to spare), that seems like a solid realistic option. But I am wondering if they are worth the trip. I have seen a number of churches already - around Telavi and then in David Gareja. Would these churches be different or more of the same…
I am a Pakistani individual backpacker resident of Dubai/UAE. I would love to visit Armenia, but need an invitation letter to get a visa. Do you know any agencies that offer the invitation letter solely? I have been searching but haven't found out yet.
Can anyone suggest me how to get it?
Many thanks in anticipation!
I am planning to take a train from Georgia to Armenia in late October. I would like to spend a few days in Dilijan before continuing on to Yerevan. I don't suppose the train from Tbilisi to Yerevan stops in Dilijan? If it doesn't, where might I get off in order to continue to Dilijan without having to go all the way to Yeravan before backtracking to Dilijan? Perhaps Vanadzor?
Alternatively, if I can't make it work with the train, is there perhaps a bus from Tbilisi that passes through…

For anyone interested in traveling to Georgia/Armenia, I've just posted a new blog entry on my recent trip there just over the last 2.5 weeks. It's more of a personal diary with a collection of my musings and favorite photos, not so much a "guide" on traveling there (that's what LP books and this forum are for, if you want that kind of info). But it's a nice little glance for anyone considering a visit the area, which I highly recommend!
