Recent experiences on Paso Pircas Negras

Hi,
we want to cross Paso Pricas Negras next January. Does anybody have recent experiences on the pass?
We have found in a description from a few years back that Refugio Barrancas Blancas (~30-40km after Laguna Brava) is manned and that there is drinking water available (inside and outside).
Does anybody know if that Refugio is still manned and more importantly if it is true that there is drinking water available?
Many thanks in advance
Didi

English Speaking Medical Services in Mar del Plata

Hello, I am a single woman spending a week in Mar Del Plata. My Spanish is very basic. I have diabetes and am having a problem with my insulin. I need to get medical advice as soon as possible. My hotel is near Plaza San Martin. The staff speaks only Spanish. Can anyone suggest a pharmacy or medical clinic where I might be able to communicate my problem in English? I can take a taxi if I have a name/location. Thanks for any information.

Buses and Transportation in Patagonia

Hi everyone,

I'll be going on a (relatively) brief Patagonian backpacking excursion with a friend next week and we're struggling a bit with interpreting the bus schedules and best means of transportation around the area. We are flying into El Calafate and from there intend to hit Perito Moreno Glacier first (one day), then travel to Torres del Paine (likely via Puerto Natales, unless someone has a better suggestion!) for a few days, then come back through El Calafate up to El Chaltén for…

Buses from Jujuy to Humahuaca, Purmamarca etc.

Hello there! I'm in need of some assistance with buses in the Quebrada de Humahuaca region. I'm going to be Salta for about four days and I'd like to make two of those nights stays in different towns of either Tilcara, Humahuaca, or Purmamarca. I've found plenty of buses from Salta to Jujuy, but nothing online for Jujuy to the Humahuaca area. Are buses so frequent that I don't really need to book tickets in advance? I'd really like to book my hotels in two different towns in advance, but I'm…

Argentina's Enduring Popularity with European Tourists

An early Germano-Argentine rustic B&B. Makes one pine for the romance of yesteryear, where U-boat was a popular means of travel.

Patagonia in May/June

I have a tricket for Buenos Aires on April 21st and I plan to spend about two months there travelling around Patagonia. I'd like to go to el Chalten, El Calafate and further South. BUT I realize this is off season and I've heraf it's very difficult to travel around Patagonia in the Winter because hotels are closed and transportation is very limited in the Winter too. Is this true? Anyone has experience travelling Patagoina in May/June?
