Blog: Murmurs from a foriegn land. - 6 December 2011
Bariloche to El Calafate. Waking up at 6am or somewhere about that time whilst travelling is pretty ridiculous. Waking up at that time to get on a bus for 28…

In Bariloche, a tale of too much talking
Blog: Bearshapedsphere - 19 October 2010
We're finally out of the wormhole and back on solid ground, alone, unfettered, and dag gummit, untalked to. What am I talking about? Mamaj and I took a trip from Puerto Varas through to Bariloche via the Lakes Crossing (it's capital-letter worthy, look it up), and the weather was mostly good, or at least not torrential, which is a near miracle for this time of year. There will be pictures, really! The lakes district is just as pretty as I knew it would be, just as pretty as it was the last time I was here. But untalked to. What's going on?

It’s Deja Vu All Over Again
Blog: No Hurry Curry - 11 April 2010
4/2/10: Bariloche, Argentina How this post will be structured: A statement about what happened today. (how many times we’ve done this before or how many times this particular thing has happened to us before or a random number of my choosing) Example 1: I am about to begin writing a mediocre blog post that won’t be particularly funny [...]

Too Lazy to Think of a Title
Blog: No Hurry Curry - 10 April 2010
4/1/10: Bariloche, Argentina In my never-ending quest to please the audience of this blog, I have taken precious seconds out of my day to draw a graph for you. When Zhou and I took our only vacation during our two years of work at Wachovia, we knew what we wanted to do with our week off: as [...]

For the Hundredth Time
Blog: No Hurry Curry - 9 April 2010
3/31/10: Bariloche, Argentina But really: anytime: anywhere We stand nervously on the corner, counting down the minutes. Kevin stares off into the distance at nothing in particular, probably thinking about chili dogs or LeBron James. I look down at the ground, making small circles in the dusty road with my toe. We are waiting for the bus. A [...]

All Dogs Bark at Kevin (and Zhou)
Blog: No Hurry Curry - 8 April 2010
3/30/10: Bariloche, Argentina Guess what? I have a story for you from today! I’d advise you to go turn on the fire, grab a warm drink and get comfortable because you’re about to be treated to a lengthy mediocre tale. I’ll pick it up at the rising action. It was about 9:15pm and our mostly motley crew [...]

Cruising over to Chile
Blog: Documentariously Challenged - 17 December 2009
I second what Todd said about Buenos Aires. Wonderful city with tons of French influence, who knew. Just think, pastries, wine, steak with fries, wine, cafes, and beautiful buildings. We had a great time exploring with Dale and Jeanne. And now I know that I like polo, a lot. May need to brush up on [...]

Road Trippin'
Blog: Hecktic Travels - 16 December 2009
We had two options when leaving the small mountain village of El Chalten on Monday for Bariloche: we either 1) backtrack a few hours by bus to the nearest airport and fly, or 2) take the "legendary" Route 40 road trip - 2 days on a bus on the ultimate unbeaten track.Being the adventurers that we are, we signed up for the road trip. And now, in retrospect, after constantly questioning what the tour operators were thinking when they heralded it "legendary", I believe I have come up with the answer.

The trip so far…
Blog: Documentariously Challenged - 15 December 2009
Well, it´s been about a week since my parents came into Argentina. We spent most of our time walking around Buenos Aires and eating as often as possible. Lunches, dinners, breakfast, you name it, we ate it. The highlight was definitely on Thursday night, when we had our nice meal, relishing in the quality only [...]

Gnome, Sweet Gnome In Villa La Angostura
Blog: Away Together - 13 November 2009
Our arrival to Villa La Angostura, about an hour north of Bariloche, set the tone for a wacky week. Driving the windy road on the shores of Lago Nahuel Huapi thrilled us with views of snow-capped Patagonian peaks but made poor Kyle throw up all over himself in the car.

Branching Out on Lago Nahuel Huapi
Blog: Away Together - 5 November 2009
Lake Nahuel Huapi spreads and branches out in all directions around this pocket of the Andes foothills of Patagonia, and its water has mesmerized us since we arrived a couple of weeks ago. Its surface changes almost hourly with the weather, from a glassy reflection to white-capped waves.

Snow play
Blog: Felicity Sees... - 26 October 2009
My latest adventures are joined together with a common theme that seems to have surfaced lately, all having been concentrated in somewhat colder circumstances than those in the deserts of the North. Dropping from 15· to 40· south does make something of a difference to the temperature! Difference enough in fact for some snow to fall and provide some great opportunities for fun and adventure!First up: Skiing (Valle Nervado, Santiago)

Welcome to Patagonia, Where Paradise Packs a Punch
Blog: Away Together - 24 October 2009
Going from Buenos Aires to the Patagonia lake district near Bariloche, which we did earlier this week, is a bit like leaving Los Angeles and landing near Tahoe — times ten.
