Aluminé

Things to do in Aluminé

  1. Restaurante Sauco

It’s a cozy little restaurant uphill from the plaza serving a range of trout dishes (the owner is a fly-fishing enthusiast), regional specialties, Patagonian oddballs, such as pickled rabbit, and your standard range of pasta, pizza, parrilla (mixed grill) and sandwiches.

  3. Mali Viajes

In front of the tourist office on the plaza, Mali Viajes rents out bikes for AR$20/80 per hour/day. During summer it offers scenic tours to Mapuche communities, circumnavigating Lago Ruca Choroi en route to Villa Pehuenia.

  6. Traditional Communities

The nearby Mapuche communities of Aigo and Salazar, on the 26km dirt road to Lago Ruca Choroi (in Parque Nacional Lanín), sell traditional weavings, araucaria pine nuts and, in summer, comidas tipicas (traditional dishes). Salazar is an easy, signposted 12km walk or bike ride out of town – just follow the river. Aigo is another 14km along.

  7. La Posta del Rey

Inside the Hostería Aluminé, this is the best eating option in town, serving up all the Argentine standards plus some good Patagonian favorites such as lamb, venison and trout.
