Bus

Puerto Madryn’s full-service bus terminal (451789; Doctor Avila, btwn Independencia & Necochea), behind the historic 1889 Estación del Ferrocarril Patagónico, has an ATM and a helpful tourist information desk.

Bus companies include Andesmar/Central Argentino (473764),Don Otto (451675),28 de Julio (472056),Mar y Valle (472056),Que Bus (455805),Ruta Patagonia (454572),TAC 474938) and TUS (451962).

The bus to Puerto Pirámides leaves at 9:30am and returns to Madryn at 6:30pm.

Air

Though Puerto Madryn has its own modern airport, most commercial flights still arrive in Trelew, 65km south.

Aeropuerto El Tehuelche (PMY; 456774) is 5km west of town, at the junction with RN 3. From here, LADE (451256; Av Roca 119) ­puddle jumps to Esquel (AR$181), El Calafate (AR$374), Río Gallegos (AR$371), Buenos Aires (AR$258), Río Grande (AR$400) and Ushuaia (AR$427).

Newcomer Andes (452355; www.andesonline.com; Av Roca 624) flies to Buenos Aires’ Aero­parque (AR$665) three times a week. Aerolíneas Argentinas (451998; Av Roca 427) flies only to nearby Trelew – but it does have a ticketing representative here.
