Hi
My wife and I are thinking of travelling to Argentina early next year to tie in with a trip to Ecuador. The Ecuador part is fixed so we have the option of travelling either in late Jan to late Feb 2017 or mid March through to Easter. We are planning to travel across most of Argentina but not to the far south as we have already travelled down that way including across in Chile. We realise at this time of year the weather will be a compromise somewhere simply due to the diversity of climate in…

Hi everyone,

I'm planning a trip to Patagonia for 3 weeks this October and want to try to get to Monte Leon, which I think will involve taking a bus from El Calafate to Rio Gallegos, then renting a car from there. Has anyone been to the park, and if so, where did you stay? It seems fairly off the beaten path and I'm not sure if the Hotel Monte Leon in the park will be open in October (they haven't responded to my email but I think they're closed for the winter). It looks like Santa Cruz is…

Hi, my name is Joan (from Barcelona, Spain) and me and my future wife are planning our honeymoon as a trip to South America. We are planing to fly on 16th December 2016 and come back to Barcelona on 8th January 2017. We are mountain enthusiast, so that's why we are going to Patagonia (Fitzroy, Torres del Paine,...) but we'd like to complete it with more "cultural" things as we plan to have one week free after 2 weeks in the Patagonia area. Thanks a lot!

Hi, we were thinking in some itinerary…

Hi fellow travellers,

I am hoping to get some sound advice on travelling through Argentina during December for 33 days. Our thoughts are:

  • Fly into Buenos Aires
  • Bus to Puerto Madryn (Do a scuba dive with the seals)
  • Fly to Mendoza (do a wine tour)
  • Bus to Salta (Do the Train in the clouds)
  • Bus to Cordoba
  • Fly to Iguazu Falls (Obviously see the falls - we will do both sides)
  • Back to Buenos Aires (overnight trip to Montevideo either at the start while we are in BA or at the end while…

Hi Thorn Tree,

I am currently doing research in Buenos Aires as an anthropology student, and have 2 days off per week. I am absolutely dying to go to Salta, and am having a hard time seeing how realistic this is. I don't mind if it is rushed as I don't know when I would be back to this part of the world.

Any advice is appreciated! Cheers

We are travelling to Argentina in December 2016 (just before xmas) for 3 weeks. We have only booked our international flights at this stage so would appreciate any feedback and recommendations people have before we book our internal flight and accommodation.

To save time we plan on flying between places. Any recommendations or places to stay, see or do would be greatly appreciated. We have also tried to ensure we allow enough time in each place but please let us know if you think our timing is…

I'm currently in Argentina, near El Bolson, and will be traveling to Bariloche tomorrow to hopefully find rechargeable boat lights for the front of our boats. Large scale, like either a large flashlight or a spotlight.

I am having trouble tracking down a store. Does anyone know of any fishing or boating stores that I may be able to call before heading into town?

Thanks in advance!

I'd appreciate any opinions or facts about the idea of traveling to El Calafate the end of July. Fodor's said it was a bad time to go, Lonely Planet isn't so specific. I'd love to hear if anyone has had real experiences to share. Thank you.
