Another of the gorgeous hostels in the busy bar district, the Itaka is located in a bright, renovated building and features spacious dorms and reasonable doubles. Call for free pick up from the bus terminal.
The hostel is set in a great old house built way back from the street, so there's no traffic or crowd noise to worry about. The front yard has been converted into a bar/cafe and it's a cool and shady spot to while away an hour before immersing yourself in the hectic Arístides bar scene, which is happening right outside the front gate. The dimensions of the common areas (such as the lounge, dining area and internet room) could be bigger, but this is more than made up for by the spacious backyard, which features a good-sized swimming pool. Mendoza's a tough town for good cheap double rooms, and the ones on offer here are as good as any for the price on offer in budget hotels. Dorms are comfy and spacious. Pay 5 pesos more and they come with private bathroom.
