im really interested in going kayaking around el calafate/el chalten area to see the icebergs and glacier. I can only find one company that do this - upsala. they are extremely expensive though and as im on a bit of a budget I was wondering if there are any other companies that offer this tour in the area?
thanks in advance!
Hi, we are visiting TdP on december, we have planned everything but still have some doubts on how to return from the TdP to El Calafate. Is there any direct bus service from the park administration to El Calafate? Is that expensive? Is going by Puerto Natales the best option? Thanks! Joan and Gloria from Barcelona ;)
I have just booked a trip that includes flying into Buenos Aires and out of Rio de Janeiro. In my booking confirmation is the following advice
"Proof of onward travel sometimes required Airline check in staff for international flights to Argentina and Immigration officials in Argentina sporadically enforce a rule requiring travellers provide proof of onward travel out of the country, even when onward flights from other countries in South America can be shown. Whilst this rule is not always…
Can anybody advise what time daytrips to perito moreno normally come back to el calafate? Fully appreciate there might be tonloads, but i know sometimes "standard" tours work on similar schedules... i'm just trying to figure out whether it'd be realistic to do a day trip ro the glacier and be back in time for hopping onto a 7.15 pm flight to BA?
Alternatively, would anybody know if there's evening bus from el calafate to rio gallegos? There's a 2 am plane for BA leaving from there, so…
Hey fellow travelers- I'm bumming around Argentina and planning on being back in BA for Night of the Musuems next weekend (Sat, Oct 29). I know this is a long shot, but would love to find a fellow explorer (or two) interested in joining - it looks awesome, I'll go regardless :)
I'm taking a trip down to Argentina this January-March with the intentions of soaking up all the beauty of Patagonia. I'm not sure if I'm just looking in the wrong places for the information or if they just do not exist in Argentina, but I was hoping for something along the lines of the Adirondack trail/PCT in the USA or Te Araroa in New Zealand. Does Argentina have one? And if not, what are some of the ways that I can pursue that style of trail and stay safe? Side note, I'm…
Have about 2.5 weeks to spend in Argentina.
Planning to BA - Bariloche - El Chalten - El Calafate - Ushuaia, probably going by bus all the way.
Do I need to book accomodation in advance, or can I just show and find something?
Will a budget of $100/day cover my costs (including transport)?
Thanks for any help offered
Hello there! am planning to hike Patagonia starting from El Chalten in Argentina in January.
I currently have an Esbit alcohol stove and a Decathlon Arpenaz 2 men tent (Able to withstand 50km/h winds). This has worked well for me camping and trekking in rainy tropical areas but i don't think they will hold up against strong winds.
Those who have trekked in Patagonia, what tent and stoves did you use? And are El Chalten and Bariloche good places to buy/rent gear?
I want to travel to Patagonia for around 11 days or so around the first of December. I would like to hike 5-10 miles most of those days. I am an older female traveling alone so I would appreciate traveling with some kind of tour to meet people, but don't want to be stuck with a group 24/7 if you get what I mean. I do not want to share a room and only need quiet, clean, comfortable space for accommodation. I speak basic Spanish. Thanks for all comments and thoughts, especially if you know…
Next december I am touring the North, and I'd like you guys help me with mimtinerary, in case I'm missing something great, I'm visiting something not worth of it o you think I'm trying to visit too many things and I'll be rushing.
I land in Salta a Monday at 11:00 AM, and fly out Friday at 15:00.
I thought that the best it renting a car to be able to visit more things than in tours or public transport.
So my plan is:
Monday: 11:00 AM I land in Salta, I rent a car and go straight…
