Steak, soccer, tango and…toddlers? Surprisingly, Buenos Aires is a great city for kids - it’s safe, and there are activities galore, child-friendly eateries and lots of parks to explore. Best of all, porteños adore children, and with these natural ice-breakers in tow, you’ll probably meet more locals than you would otherwise. Here are a few tips to make traveling with los niños enjoyable.

Sights

Sleeping

The following hotels all have multi-room suites or apartments with kitchenettes, which make them great choices for families:

Eating

  • Whether or not a children’s menu is offered, most cafés and restaurants welcome children and offer freshly squeezed juices, hot chocolate, and simple, kid-friendly foods like pizza and spaghetti.
  • All-you-can-eat restaurants offer lots of choices; try Grants or Siga La Vaca.
  • For pasta, try Broccolino; for Armenian and Arabic food, there’s Garbis.
  • Cumaná is great for empanadas and pizzas, or try California Burrito Company.
  • La Payuca - this grill restaurant has a babysitter-manned playroom
  • Save room for a helado - BA’s ice-cream rivals Rome’s. Freddo and Persicco both have multiple branches.

Tips

  • BA’s crowded and uneven sidewalks are difficult to manage with a stroller - consider a baby carrier instead.
  • Always carry toilet paper and wet wipes - public bathrooms are often poorly maintained.

I checked out the above listed recommended hotels and all but one are over $100/night. the one that is less is a 1 star hotel not in a central location.

Through my own internet research I found a very nice hostel on Florida Street (very central I hear).

You can book a private room for under $50 US/night.

Check out this link to watch a video tour of the hostel and you can check it out for yourself. I think it is the best deal going in Buenos Aires. I phoned the hostel yesterday and they do allow children to stay there at no extra cost.

I desagree with the previuos post. Im from Argentina but not from Buenos Aires. I use to go to Buenos Aires a lot and I latelly I have been in that hostel: hostelsofargentina.com Its awfull.. I dont know why americans like hostels, you have to share everything! and if you dont want to share is the same cost as being in a good hotel!. I recomend you to search for 2 or 3 starts hotels like: www.hotelmarbella.com.ar and http://www.atangohotel.com These are the best and cheapest hotels I have been. But well I prefer good service and privacity :) Also in that hostel they didnt treat me good and they didnt give me a legal ticket, that's is terrible. The room was like a box without windows and without airconditionar. Lots of noice at night, drunk people etc Hostels are for young and crazy people.. hehe
