In a city that never sleeps, finding a drink is as easy as walking down the street. Whether you’re into trendy cocktail lounges, classic Irish pubs, atmospheric old cafes or serious wine bars, you’ll find them all in Buenos Aires – sometimes all within a few blocks. Porteños aren’t big drinkers, but they do like to go out with friends and stay up late. The line between bars and cafes is rather blurred – they pretty much all serve coffee, beer, wine and cocktails, plus a fair amount of finger food. At neighbourhood holes-in-the-wall, do as the locals do and order a classic chopp (mug) of Quilmes beer. Only order mixed cocktails at swankier places with professional-looking bartenders. No matter where you go, you can never go wrong with a glass of Malbec or Torrontés.
