    A soaring baroque interior, an eye-catching rococo altar, an intricately tiled floor and a statue of Christ carved from the wood of an algarrobo (carob) tree distinguish the city’s main cathedral. The mausoleum is the final resting place of the Liberator General José de San Martín, Argentina’s independence leader, and an eternal flame burns outside in his honor.
