Covering an entire city block, this beautiful French-style shopping center dates from 1889 and boasts vaulted ceilings with paintings done in 1954 by muralists Antonio Berni, Juan Carlos Castagnino, Manuel Colmeiro, Lino Spilimbergo and Demetrio Urruchúa. All were adherents of the nuevo realismo (new realism) school of Argentine art. For many years the building was semiabandoned, but a joint Argentine-Mexican team repaired and restored the murals in 1992.

    Great shopping in a historic and breathtaking building.

    Best place to shop. This large palacial building, in the Beaux Arts style, is a modern and gracious shopping mall inside. With painted ceiling and lots of brass, its really relaxing and lovely, even though its packed with people. Wonderful trendy and classic shops, and lots of cafes to rest. I go to Buenos Aires often and shop here a lot. Another great shopping mall similar to this is Patio Bullrich, but Galeria Pacifico has a better location right on Florida Avenue and Cordoba. I can get all my shopping done here. Very tourist friendly.
