The sole and sea bass at Oviedo are so fresh they’re practically still flopping around. Prepared with contemporary Spanish flair and paired with cold white wine, fish takes center stage at this fine dining institution –although melt-in-your-mouth pork dishes are also worth writing home about.

Upscale restaurant. Wonderful seafood.

I went to Oviedo with my sister and brother-in-law last year and we had a wonderful time. I hope it still lives up to that standard.
This is not a hip, trendy restaurant but one of those in an old building, with soft glowing lights, wooden furniture, waiters in white (see their website for pictures)...a soothing place to end a day. The service was excellent and the food was perfectly cooked. Nouvelle cuisine with fish specialties. I had a black grouper on a small pile of butternut squash gnocchis, and my sister had a fish I hadn't heard of before on a terrine of mushrooms and leeks. The desserts were beautifully presented (again, go to their website for pics) but it was all very good.
I remember that the prices were expensive for Argentine, but comparable with moderate prices in the US (around $13-18 per entree). This setting and food in the US would have been more on the scale of $25+ per entree. Prices may have gone up since. Helpings are not huge but just the right size.
