Lonely Planet review for El Desnivel
Eating at dirt-cheap Desnivel is a rite of passage. The convivial parrilla atmosphere is buoyed by deadpan waiters, a mix of hungry locals and eager tourists, the skill and speed of the overworked guys on the grill, and – of course – the affordable beef, sizzling provoleta (grilled provolone) and fried empanadas.

El desnivel tiene nivel!
veronicabarzola recommends this,

Beef again. But what beef !
pierog recommends this,
Back in BA after a tour through wonderful Argentina, you are fearing to miss beef meat ? Well, head straight to El Desnivel. This restaurant serves excellent meat for decent prices. The 500g bife de chorizo mariposa vuelta y vuelta for 32 pesos is the perfect example of Argentine know-how. It even competes with the legendary Viejo Jack in Salta.
If you still have room for dessert, the flan (6 pesos, 3 pesos supplement for dulce de leche) and the panqueque (12 pesos) will be the worst foes of your regime. Guess what I have ordered !
All this is served in a nice and friendly atmosphere amidst locals and a few tourists (at least in November).Good for: atmosphere, food, Budget Travellers, Groups, Solo Travellers, service, Families

Great name, great food
ianmcguire recommends this,
For an authentic Argentine grill, this is one of the best. Packed with people, they squeezed us in to a small table and served one of the best steaks I ate in Argentina. If you are after frills, Flamenco and candlelight forget it but for a tasty, reasonably priced meal I thoroughly recommencd El Desnivel.
