Lonely Planet review for El Cuartito

Since 1934, this legendary pizzeria has seen local men polishing off slices at the counter and families sharing fresh empanadas (savory-filled pastries) at tables, surrounded by faded images of sportsmen.

    Exciment

    marcscian recommends this,

We, as humans, as many other animals, tend to crowd; is one of our instincts. We see many people getting together in one place and we think: "it's safe", "it's good" or maybe "it's free". Wherever I go to dine and see many people waiting, I wonder if they are there for the food or for others to see and tell.
I hardly form lines or wait outside restaurants. For me it's simple: I am hungry equals I want to eat. But when the desire of the best pizza or the pleasure of a perfect empanada invades my delicate palate, I have this dilemma. El Cuartito is always crowded. So I go, I wait, I complain, I envy the people who's already eating, I observe with indifference the pictures on the wall, I wonder why the place hasn't changed... But then is my turn, and from anxiety and anger, I pass to hope and expectation; and bite my first slice of pizza. It's something that makes me fells as if I am eating pieces of heaven. The complaints, the envy and the frustration disappear. The atmosphere suddenly is beautiful. All because of that bite of pizza pleasure.

    Celebrity chef´s choice

    cuinnipak recommends this,

When visiting Buenos Aires, Anthony Bourdain choose this restaurant for tasting the traditional argentinian empanadas, and he was not wrong. The Cuartito´s empanadas are among the best in the city. Try some of the special "gustos" (flavors), like tuna (Bourdain´s favourite). Prices are a little bit over the average but it is worth.
