    Bar 6

A stylish neighborhood classic, Bar 6 is open all day – you can drop by for eggs and coffee in the morning or show up at night to lounge on a red velvet couch with a bellini or a beer. The contemporary design, soaring ceilings and foxy crowd make up for the indifferent service.

    Bar Plaza Dorrego

Despite the constant tourist presence, Bar Plaza Dorrego remains one of BA’s most atmospheric watering holes. Take a load off to observe the tired but tuxedoed waiters making their rounds through an interior cluttered with antique bottles. Outdoors, backpackers knock back beer at rickety tables littered with peanut shells.

    Bar Iberia

Soak up the grandeur of Av de Mayo at Bar Iberia, the city’s second-oldest cafe. Since 1897, the sophisticated corner bar has welcomed distinguished clientele like playwright Federico García Lorca, who lived for a time at the nearby Castelar Hotel. Take in the avenue’s magnificent architecture from the sidewalk table.

    Bar Seddón

This laid-back bar is outfitted with black-and-white tiles, rustic wood tables and the glow of hundreds of candles, and is housed in an old pharmacy. Drop in for an icy chopp (glass of draught beer) or for a late-night glass of red – you’ll keep good company with a neighborhood crowd.

    Clásica Y Moderna

Mingle with an arty, intellectual crowd at this good-looking ‘multi-espacio’ (it’s a cafe, bar, restaurant, art space, bookstore and music venue all rolled into one). Both classic and modern – hence the name – it fills to capacity for jazz performances and poetry readings.
