Don’t judge this downtown institution too quickly – the ground-level cafe is looking worn around the edges, but the upstairs dance hall, with its magnificent domed ceiling and glowing antique lanterns, is straight out of another era – especially when couples are locked together on the dance floor and old tango classics crackle over the loudspeakers.
