    El Living

Laid-back El Living (the Living Room) sticks to a decade-old formula: plush sofas, cheap whiskey sours, campy George Michael music videos projected onto a huge screen, and a young, cheerful crowd. Before 2am, dinner guests linger and most bar stools are empty, but you’ll be squished between vintage Madonna fans when the ‘80s dance party gets going in the wee hours.

    Kim Y Novak

Technically, Kim y Novak is a bar, not a club – but the wild transvestite and hipster crowd baring flesh and downing cocktails to a DJ-spun soundtrack make this grungy, flamboyant corner venue an underground nightlife staple. Gay, straight, the guy with pink hair and nipple rings – everyone is welcome at the one-of-a-kind Kim y Novak.

    Soul Café & Supersoul

These 1970s-style sister bars are equally groovy. Fun-loving Soul Café is furnished with kitschy hanging dice lamps and stylish white seats, while Supersoul has curvy red walls, hanging disc ‘curtains’ and a long wall mirror that makes people-watching (and full-out ogling) possible.

    Asia de Cuba

This Asian-style lounge bar and club has lost some of its luster in recent years, but the exotic Shanghai-inspired decor and eclectic dance music still bring in well-dressed locals and party-going tourists. The gorgeous cushioned outdoor seating, facing the water, is delightful.

    Pipí-Cucú

No, it’s not a Native American tribal name – Pipí-Cucú is a local expression meaning ‘gorgeous.’ This artistic cocktail bar and brasserie is fashionable and coolly understated – everything from the chairs to the wine glasses are mismatched.

    Kandi

This retro cocktail bar, with its caramel leather seating, round mirrors and wooden floors, is cool, design-wise, and a hit with the local hipsters who pile in after midnight.
