Hi everyone, I just had a question about whether Antigua is relatively safe to travel to? Previous posts in this forum generally seem to indicate its safe as long as you take normal precautions, but some posts are some years old so I just wanted to check. I had heard of someone who went there for work recently and was cautioned against venturing outside her hotel grounds unaccompanied due to the risk of muggings, which seems extreme - is there that high a risk, or was the hotel just being…

we r planning to go on a cruise at the beginning of march and we'll stay one day in antigua too.
my wife is pregnant, 5th month, and we are keeping on reading so many worrying news about zika virus.
some news really scare us, some other seem not to make you worry.
how is the situation like here?
do u think it would be a risk for us? on one hand we' r, or we try to be a bit confident 'cos it will be a cruise, but do you think that the visits of the island might be dangerous?
thanks in advance…
we are a couple from italy who will come to Antigua at the beginning of March just for some hours, during a cruise in the Caribbean. We are two adventurous travelers as you can see in our blog: www.born2travel.it
This time we have had to choose a more relaxing thing 'cos my wife is pregnant and we can't do any hard activities.
Considering that we'll stay just few hours, from the morning till the evening, and that we don't wanna follow the groups of the cruise, what would you suggest to do…
Researching Antigua as a possible student destination, I'm interested in learning more about the Half Moon Bay Hotel. Is it still abandoned, and can anyone visit the property?
Has anyone traveled to Barbuda and stayed in the North Beach Cottages? My fiancé and I are looking into staying there for our honeymoon next October. First of all, it seems gorgeous, yet remote. Remote is a good thing, but it also makes me a bit nervous. Second, is October an absolutely terrible time to be traveling in the Caribbean? Any information on Barbuda would be greatly appreciated :-)
I reserved a flight with LIAT in February from Antigua to Guadeloupe. An early set off at 6.10am but arriving at 6.40am. Without explanation, LIAT have now sent an email informing me that they've changed the flight to 10am to Barbados, a wait time there, then back to Guadeloupe arriving 4pm! I'm awaiting an explanation from them but what other options do I have? I don't think theres a ferry from Antigua to Guadeloupe and I believe only LIAT fly the route Any ideas? I don't want to spend a whole…
We're going to Antigua for New Year's eve and I'd like to know where the fireworks are going to be? Also, what about the parade on New Year's day, where is that at?
We're renting a cottage on Jolly Harbor by the way, so for fireworks, the closest to Jolly Harbour would be the best. We have a car however, so mobility is not too big a deal.
I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions to find an apartment. I am a professor of sociology at the University of Wisconsin conducting research in Antigua on religion and culture. I'm hoping to get a discounted long term rental rate for a small apartment. My research is mostly based in St. John's. Thanks.
