Getting there & away
Several buses and taxis collectifs run from Batna along the N88 towards Khenchela and Aïn Beida and pass close to Timgad. The turn-off, on the right, is signposted. The monuments are a short walk from the turn-off. Returning to Batna might be more difficult. Private taxis can be hired for DA500 one way or up to DA1500 return (less if you can haggle), including some hours’ waiting time.
